The commitment
This site should be usable by everyone who wants to read it — including people who navigate by keyboard, use a screen reader or magnifier, need larger text or higher contrast, or have asked their system to reduce motion. Accessibility is treated here as part of the craft of the site, not a compliance chore bolted on afterwards.
Conformance target
danjahn.com aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is the standard referenced by most accessibility law worldwide, and it is the bar this site is measured against.
Current status
The site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and is actively being remediated. “Partially conformant” means most of the site meets the standard, but some content does not yet fully meet every success criterion. This statement is based on self-evaluation — automated checks run as part of the build, plus manual keyboard and screen-reader review. No independent third-party audit has been carried out.
What is already in place
The following are built into the site rather than added per page:
- A “Skip to content” link is the first thing a keyboard user reaches on every page, and it moves focus into the main landmark — not just the scroll position.
- Every page uses real landmarks and a single, correctly ordered heading outline, so a screen reader can be used to navigate structure rather than reading top to bottom.
- Navigation, menus, forms, dialogs, and the video and booking embeds are all operable by keyboard alone, and every control shows a visible focus indicator that meets the 3:1 non-text contrast threshold.
- Text and essential interface boundaries — input borders, focus rings — are checked against the WCAG contrast formula rather than by eye.
- Every animation on the site, including the ambient background field and the hero entrances, stops or shortens when the operating system requests reduced motion. Nothing auto-plays, auto-advances, or auto-rotates.
- Form fields carry real labels — never a placeholder standing in for one — and validation errors are announced and tied to the field that failed.
- Icon-only controls carry text alternatives, and purely decorative images and graphics are hidden from assistive technology rather than announced as noise.
- Accessibility rules run in the linter on every build, so a regression fails the build instead of shipping.
Known limitations
Being honest about what is not yet finished matters more than a clean claim. These are the gaps currently known:
- Third-party embeds are outside my control. The Cal.com scheduler, the Vimeo player, and the Stripe payment fields render their own interfaces, and their accessibility is governed by those companies. If one of them blocks you, tell me — I will arrange the same thing by email or phone.
- Decorative borders and dividers between cards and sections sit below 3:1 contrast. They carry no information and are not required to identify any control, but they may be hard to make out on a low-contrast display.
- The eight-trait radar chart on an assessment results page is a picture of data. The same figures are given directly beneath it as text, but the chart itself is not separately described.
- PDFs and other downloadable documents linked from the site have not been individually audited for accessibility.
- This statement covers danjahn.com only. Linked sites — including fractionalstrategy.io — publish their own.
Reporting a barrier
If something on this site blocks you, please tell me — it is the fastest way anything here gets fixed. Email hello@danjahn.com or use the contact form. It helps to include the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you were using — but a one-line “this page doesn’t work with my screen reader” is welcome too, and enough to start from.
I aim to acknowledge every report within five business days, and to tell you either what has been fixed or when it will be. Where a fix will take longer, I will offer the information or service another way in the meantime — by email, by phone, or in whatever format works for you.
Keeping this current
This statement is revised whenever the known limitations above change — as gaps are closed, as new ones are found, and as new pages and features ship. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
